Let’s Talk.

Hey, people pleaser. Yes, I’m talking to you, honey.

So, listen—I was having this conversation the other day, right? And it wasn’t exactly about people-pleasing, but… kinda, yeah. We were actually talking about skin bleaching—or, you know, whatever folks like to call it these days: brightening, lightening, glowing up. But at the end of the day, it’s still bleaching.

And here’s the thought that hit me: Would you consider bleaching a phenomenon of people-pleasing?

I’m asking because, well… you’re already an expert. You know how to people-please. You’ve done it. Maybe you’re in recovery, maybe you’re still in it—but you’ve been there.

And when I look at the reasons people bleach their skin, it feels eerily familiar. A lot of folks aren’t doing it for themselves. They’re doing it to be accepted. To be seen a certain way. To fit into an image that society—or a specific group of people—tells them is “better.” Sound familiar? Kinda like how you used to overextend yourself, shrink yourself, do the most for the least just to feel worthy.

So, I’m just wondering—in that regard, could skin bleaching also be a form of people-pleasing? Could it be a way of chasing approval, of trying to belong?

I don’t have all the answers, but I want to hear your thoughts. Drop them in the comments, because, you know—I can’t see them otherwise!

Discourse, not disrespect. Bye!
