She has also Keynoted at the National Sex Ed Conference.

Here is a small sample from an Instagram recorded video of the end of her presentation called: Snatching Edges: Why Black Hair Matter in Sex Education

  • Need someone down to earth to talk to college students, adolescents, young adults, or the like about sex(uality), mental health, and all that jazz? How about some who is comfortable speaking at a bachelorette party? Or maybe for a smaller event on sex and relationships for couples?

We got you! College events, women's groups, retreats, adolescent groups, churches; informal but still informational!

Mixing mental health and sex(uality) education comes easy to the Doc! Creating a curriculum that is age-appropriate, entertaining, captivating, and educational, is a must! Signature Workshops and Training

If you didn’t know, Dr. Donna teaches and trains. Using her masters in social work & education a masters with a sexuality and racial justice focus, she definitely has your back. While we can create a training program that meets your needs, we also love to tailor our current offerings to your organization to meet your mission and organizational goals! Training is what you do when you are ready to make sure your organization has the additional skills needed to change the culture and help you thrive!

  • Who this program is for?

This is geared toward educators, mental health practitioners, and those who ultimately aim to serve or work with racial minorities. We can’t do the work that is needed without a good hard look at if our organizations and practices meet true DEI standards, and we can’t do any of it if we don't explore ourselves in power, identity, and humility. This training program is intense and NOT a one-time 2-hour training. That is not enough to make sustainable change, but schedule a discovery call to learn more about this program and how it can meet the needs of your company.

    Key Details

    • This program has 3 units

    • Each unit comes with a workbook to further expand on the learning

    • Each unit has an accountability call, which is ideally set to occur between each unit

    • Ongoing consultation hours can be added!

    • This program can be completed in person or virtually

    • Additional add on’s that can be scheduled separately include: Snatching Edges: Why Black Hair Matters

    • Self-knowledge is not a luxury: Keeping your mind right with the 5 senses of self-care

    • On the Vine for leadership which includes interactive lessons on active listening, goal planning for success and more!

  • What is this training about?

Sex education is a social justice issue we know all about, right? Wrong! Because somehow despite what we know, we seem to be just shy of having truly integrative work that calls in people of various backgrounds. In this 90 minute workshop, we will focus on how anti-blackness informs sex education and what we can do on an individual level to make change.

What are the objectives of this training?

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

    • Identify 3 ways Black women's sexuality is impacted by hair texture

    • Identify 1 way mental health and sexuality are related

    • Identify 1 way to incorporate psycho-education and feelings about hair/beauty/intersectionality into the therapeutic/educational relationship

  • What is this training about?

Self Care is a buzzword that inspires mental pictures of bubble baths, massages, and vacations. Yeah, we have commodified it and made it into a luxury item that everyone doesn't have access to. But Self Care is NOT a luxury! It is a necessity!  In this session we will explore some of our own “stuff,” how it intersects with the work we do, and how not to lose ourselves in the work. We will not only talk about, but practice self care through the engaging of the 5 senses, which can be practiced daily.

What are the objectives of this training?

    • Identify and practice 5 ways to engage in self care using one or more of the 5 senses

    • Identify 1 personal blindspot they may have that impacts their work as well as their self care

    • Define self care outside of just massages and bubble baths; specifically in being more preventative than reactive

  • Sex can be a fun and beautiful experience, and yet its still a cultural taboo. This course is designed to help you set the stage for open, direct, and helpful conversation with the kids (yours or not) in your life. This course offers slightly different objectives depending on who it's for. There is Sex Talk clinician, teachers, and parents edition. Take your pick and let’s get to work

What are the objectives of this workshop?

By the end of this workshop participants will be able to:

    • Identify 3 reasons why it is important to include sex and sexuality in conversations

    • Identify 2 barriers they have personally, that may keep them from speaking out sex and sexuality

    • Identify and practice 1 technique for integrating sex and sexuality into discussions

  • "Amazing! I learned so much from her webinar in general. "

Admittedly, this is a conversation I dread having. This webinar addressed my own narrative around my children being sexual beings and how that was impacting my ability to effectively have this conversation and support them in informed decision-making. Dr. Donna guides you through tackling your fears and own narrative around sex and sexuality. The talk is for anyone who is connected to youth. Fear doesn’t prepare our youth to navigate their own sexual identity and if we don’t, someone else will. Have the talk. Let Dr. Donna help you!

Sex Talk Parent Edition Training Participant

  • "Dr. Donna’s light, fun, visuals were on point in a room full of black women!"

    Goal Digging Webinar participant

  • I loved the presentation,

I think the dating advice or at least learning how to talk to your family and friends about the topic was helpful as well.

  • I appreciated the reminder and the amount of information and examples about the standards of beauty being around light skin, blonde hair, and blue eyes. I teach classes to girls and adults (mostly their moms) together, and want to make sure I incorporate some of this info into that class so we can keep expanding the definition of “normal” and “beauty”.

  • "This was a powerful training"

I feel like I can have those conversations as a black woman and not feel so judged. I learned about racial identity and how to integrate race and culture into sex ed work. I also learned more about intersectionality and how/where I fit in!

  • I thought Dr. Oriowo’s use of a variety of engaging interactive learning strategies was well-thought-out.

As a trainer myself, I sometimes wonder “is now the right time for small groups? Paired discussion? Large group movement?” and Dr. Oriowo absolutely nailed each selection. Beyond appreciating the topic presented in its own right, I admired the thought that went into presenting a session for such a large group...Watching her facilitation skills leaves me thinking that if she is on the agenda, I'm attending, whatever the topic.

    -William "Bill" Taverner

Executive Director for the Center of Sex Ed

  • "Illuminative and transforming"

I had an opportunity to hear Dr. Donna speak the National Sex Ed Conference in 2017 and her presentation was illuminative and transforming. Her discussion about negotiating race and some of the challenges that exist for people of color was sobering and refreshing. I’m looking forward to future collaborations with her.”
